"Bilingual Tainan looks forward to strengthening global communication skills." Since taking office, Wei-che has made efforts to enhance the city's competitiveness, starting with a strong educational foundation to develop future global citizens’ key skills.
Cheng Hsin-hui, Director of Tainan City Education Bureau, promotes bilingual education in Tainan City in every aspect. Tainan has lead the nation by three initiatives: establishing the "Bilingual Counseling Group", promoting the "Bilingual School Multiplication Plan", and establishing the "Bilingual Education Center".
In addition, we not only provide bilingual teacher empowerment courses, but also received 3,000 Moral Education English Picture Books (Bilingual Education Series) from the Highest Good Education Foundation. This series of picture books provides bilingual materials for elementary schools to integrate issues into their interdisciplinary bilingual teaching. This helps Tainan elementary teachers to implement bilingual teaching in their schools’ alternative curriculum. Tainan elementary teachers are also authorized to use the curriculum toolkits and demo videos from the resource website of this series.
We greatly appreciate the Highest Good Education Foundation and authors of the book series for the donations and efforts. Special gratitude goes to the team led by Principal Alison Lu of Simen Experimental Elementary School, Tainan City bilingual center school. They not only created picture books and toolkits, but also completed the e-books version. The English dubbing was also recorded by students from Simen Experimental Elementary School. The strength and effectiveness of bilingual education in Tainan City are clearly demonstrated. This series of bilingual picture books is a great help in promoting bilingual education.
